CECILIA BERETTA
Championed by Women
————————————————————————
A sense of history, a sense of place, and the beauty of new connections combine in the wines of the Pasqua family who this year celebrate their centenary. Today, their Cecilia Beretta venture, founded in the 1980s as a centre for viticultural research, focuses on terroir-driven projects in the hills of Soave and Valpolicella close to their home in Verona. The eponymous Cecilia was the daughter of Conte Giuseppe Beretta, a 17th century agronomist and poet, and Cecilia was one of the first women patrons of the arts. Today, third generation Cecilia Pasqua is at the helm. Honouring the legacy, she has enlisted one of Italy’s leading winemakers, Graziana Grassini (protégée of the legendary Giacomo Tachis), to reinterpret the region’s classic styles with a light touch, creating wines expressive of the area, its terroirs and indigenous grape varieties.
