APHELION WINES
In Greek, Aphelion means “from the sun”, and it was from this intention to bottle sunshine that had Rob Mack and his wife Louise Rhodes Mack to establish Aphelion in 2014. Wines are hand-crafted, and made in small batches, with nearly every part of the work all resting upon Rob and Lou.

Today, Rob has fast gained a reputation as “Mr. Grenache”, and Aphelion has turned into one of the hottest brands on the market. Minimal intervention winemaking techniques that Rob and Lou employ would enhance the purity of the fruits, and allow the sun’s life sustaining force to shine out of the vines.

This wine displays a wonderful balance of fresh acidity and textural interest from fermentation in both oak and tank. Ripe stone fruit characters flow seamlessly across the palate.

Rob’s take on Grenache Blanc has intense and vibrant aromatics mingling with citrus and spice. A textural edge provides a food friendly aspect. Cinnamon and nutmeg spice complement the nashi pear and stone fruit flavours.

Affinity Grenache Mataro Shiraz, a key flagstone wine for Aphelion, is a perfect example of complex, delicious wine that is much greater than the sum of it’s premium parts. A harmonious blend of the varieties from three distinct regions of the Vale produces a vibrant, complex, and layered style of wine.
