Auxey-Duresses Blanc Esprit Leflaive 2023

France / Burgundy / Cote de Beaune

How this area, lying between Meursault and Saint-Romain, is coming of age. Historically, this was a “cool” appellation (in the weather sense) over which global warming has exerted a rather benevolent influence.

"Lovely nose of firm, ripe, yellow peach fruit. The palate is elegantly flavoured, intricate in structure and wears the solar richness of this vintage quite effortlessly. Nicely lifted, surprisingly long finish as well."

EXCLUSIVE PRODUCER

Esprit Leflaive

Esprit Leflaive is a brand new venture between Brice de La Morandiere, Leflaive family incumbent and head of Domaine Leflaive, and highly respected Pierre Vincent, Leflaive’s winemaker and general manager since 2017.

This audacious push beyond Leflaive Cote De Beaune heartland and holdings in the Maconnais sees the Puligny-Montrachet-based domaine advance on the Cote de Nuits and Chablis, adding new realms of Pinot Noir to its already conquered empire of Chardonnay.

Region

Burgundy

Burgundy’s wine industry complexity and tremendous diversity are the result of geological accident. Centuries ago, faulting tore the great valley apart, easing the passage of the nearby Saône River.
